Grading & Land Leveling in Central Illinois

Rough and finish grading that sets the right elevation and slope for building pads, driveways, yards and fields, so water moves away from what you build.

Grading

Grading Services That Get the Slope Right

Good grading is what keeps water away from foundations, slabs and driveways. We cut high spots, fill low ones and shape the ground to the elevation and slope your project needs, for homes, outbuildings, farms and commercial lots across Central Illinois.

Central Illinois clay soil holds water, so a lot that looks level can still pond after a heavy rain. We check the existing grade, move material where it needs to go and compact it, then finish grade so the surface is ready for concrete, gravel, sod or seed.

FAQ

FAQ On Grading & Land Leveling in Central Illinois

How Much Does Grading Cost in Central Illinois?

Cost depends on the size of the area, how much material has to be moved or brought in, soil conditions and site access. Contact us to discuss pricing and get a free quote after we look at your site.

What's the Difference Between Rough Grading and Finish Grading?

Rough grading moves and shapes the soil to set the basic elevation and slope. Finish grading smooths and fine-tunes that surface so it is ready for concrete, gravel, sod or seed. Most projects need both.

Can Grading Fix Standing Water in My Yard?

Often, yes. Standing water usually means the ground is flat or sloped the wrong way. Regrading so water runs away from the house is a common fix, and where grading alone is not enough we can add drainage such as a swale or drain tile.

Do You Grade Building Pads and Driveways?

Yes. We prepare pads for homes, garages, outbuildings and slabs, and grade driveway and parking areas so the base is level, compacted and sloped to shed water.

What Should I Do Before Grading Starts?

Point out anything you want protected and tell us about septic systems, irrigation or private buried lines you know of. Public utilities also need to be located through JULIE, Illinois' 811 service, before any digging.

How Long Does a Grading Job Take?

It depends on the size of the area, the amount of material and the weather, since wet clay cannot be graded well. We will give you an expected timeline along with your free estimate.
